Location

Where is the event based?

The competition's headquarters and pilot's base is Hotel Brisas de los Alpes, located on the road La Vega - Jarabacoa, km 8 1/2.

Airport

Which airport should I fly to?

The closest airport to Brisas de los Alpes is Santiago (STI), about 1 hour drive. Two other near-by airports are Las Americas, in Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Puerto Plata (POP), both of them are 2 hours away from the hotel, the first one south and the latest, north.

What about the other airports?

All other airports are quite far away from the hotel. Punta Cana is a 5 hours drive and so are other airports in the northeast.

Transfer: Airport - Comp / Comp - Airport

How do I get from the airport to the hotel?

There are basically two options, the cheap one and the expensive one. The expensive one is, of course, the simplest: take a taxi at the airport and tell the driver the hotel's name and address. If you arrive at STI, a taxi to the hotel should cost around 80 USD, and 120 USD if you arrive at POP or SDQ.

Now, let's review the cheap option:

Either if you arrive at Santiago (STI), Santo Domingo (SDQ) or Puerto Plata (POP), the procedure is the following:

1st- Take a taxi at the airport and ask the driver to take you to the bus stop of a transport company called 'Caribe Tours' in Santiago, Santo Domingo or Puerto Plata, depending on which airport you arrived at. That will cost you USD 20 - 25 and it's a 20 - 40 minutes drive. Every taxi driver knows where Caribe Tours is.

2nd- Take Caribe Tour's bus to 'La Vega'. That will cost you USD 5 - 10. Caribe Tours' buses leave every hour from 6 AM to 8 PM.

3rd- Once in La Vega, take a taxi and ask the driver to drop you at Hotel Brisas de los Alpes, km 8 1/2 La Vega - Jarabacoa. That will cost you USD 10 - 15.

To go back to the airport after the comp the procedure is quite similar.

Dates

When should I arrive in the Dominican Republic?

The comp starts first time in the morning of Monday 5th February. Ideally, you should be at the hotel between 15:00 and 20:00 the day before, which is on Sunday 4th. The accommodation for the night of the 4th is included in the registration fee.

When should I leave?

The comp ends on Saturday 10th February, late in the afternoon after a great party! We have included the accommodation for that night in the registration fee. So, ideally, you should leave on Sunday 11th February.

Longer holiday?

Can I stay at Brisas de los Alpes before and / or after the comp starts / ends?

You can contact the hotel at (1) 809 227 8818 / (1) 809 223 0428 for reservations. Be advised that in the case you get there ahead of the event, you may need to be relocated in a different room the day the event starts.
